Michael Drout a annoncé que le 7ème volume des Tolkien était en cours de finalisation, et donc prévu, pour sortir au cours du mois prochain.

Désolé de ce triple post, mais il me semblait important de noter que ce volume contiendra comme ses prédécesseurs, un inédit de la main de Tolkien. En l'occurrence, il s'agit de l'histoire de Kullervo et d'essais sur le Kalevala, transcrits par Verlyn Flieger. Cette publication s'inscrit dans la lignée éditoriale des Enfants de Hurin et de la Légende de Sigurd et Gudrun.

J'y ai pensé après avoir posté :p. Faudra que je regarde si j'ai le temps de déjà travailler sur le matériel que j'ai, parce que c'est pas que je suis dans le m**** mais un peu quand même...(j'en viens à me dire que soutenir en septembre, c'est pratique quand même...).

Intéressant. La « révolte » des universitaires contre le système organisé par les éditeurs de revues académiques (principalement Elsevier) dure déjà depuis quelques mois ; c'est curieux de la voir ainsi s'introduire dans la petite bulle des choses tolkiéneuses.

Personnellement, je comprends pourquoi Douglas Anderson a claqué la porte... Ça se prétend éditeur universitaire et ça ne songe même pas à assurer la diffusion papier des textes publiés.

J'ai acheté les volumes 7–10 (pas encore reçus), mais je me demande si ce ne seront pas les derniers, vu le prix et vu l'absence d'inédits de Tolkien.

Les articles restent assez intéressants, et d'un très bon niveau de connaissance de Tolkien donc ça reste une bonne publication. Mais je suis d'accord avec toi, un éditeur universitaire doit assurer la diffusion de ses publications et si ce n'est pas en éditant des stocks, au moins par des impressions à la demande.

Personnellement, il ne me manquera que le numéro 6, qui m'intéressait beaucoup plus que les autres (et le 10 que je n'ai pas encore commandé, évidemment).

Avec plusieurs mois de retard, le volume est en passe de sortir. Voici la couverture avec une photo inédite qui représente Tolkien en costume d'Hermès pour la pièce La Paix d'Aristophane, lors de son dernier jour à la King Edward’s School, en juillet 1911.

Et, surprise (sic), le prix n'a pas diminué d'un iota. De deux choses l'une : soit le changement de couverture est reporté, soit l'éditeur est encore plus gourmand qu'il ne l'était déjà. Wait & see...
