Ce qui me gêne est ce passage de notre encyclo :
"Il faudrait ensuite imaginer qu'après la chute de Morgoth, les Eldar restant en Terre du Milieu auraient vivement rejeté toute idée de vivre sous terre ; mode de vie pour eux uniquement compatible avec un état de guerre permanent. "
C'est contradictoire avec le palais de Thranduil, bâti comme imitation des cavernes de Menegroth, et une interpolation d'un passage de Peoples of ME, p. 24 : "But Moria itself is an Elvish name of Gnomish kind, and given without love, for the true Gnomes, though they might here and there in the bitter wars against the Enemy and his orc-servants make great fortresses beneath the Earth, were not dwellers in caves or tunnels of choice, but lovers of the green earth and of the lights of heaven; and Moria in their tongue means the Black Chasm."
Cela reste donc tout à fait compatible avec l'inscription du nom Moria sur la porte Ouest. Le seul problème réside dans l'affirmation du Silmarillion "Hadhodrond in the Elvish tongue, that was afterwards in the days of its darkness called Moria;". On peut le comprendre comme un simple anachronisme et éviter ainsi bien des problèmes.
