Ô Gondolin, cité d'albâtre
Toi, qui jadis fut éclatante ;
Un bijou au cœur de l'écrin
Que l'on nomme le Tumladen.
Ô Gondolin, havre de paix
Aux vertigineux parapets
Surplombées de la Tour du Roi
Toujours plus haute de surcroît.
Ô Gondolin, tu dus te battre
Aux lueurs de l'aube montante
Mais malheureusement, en vain,
Dans une chute bien soudaine.
