Essay HS - “For ther as wont to walken was an elf” - Jason Fisher - Druss - 14.01.2013
We are proud to present you the first english subsection of the Essays section by publishing the original version of the essays edited in July 2012 in the special issue of l'Arc et le Heaume, Tolkien 1892-2012.
To begin, Jason Fisher, independent scholar and director of Tolkien and the Study of his Sources (2011) presents an essay entitled “For ther as wont to walken was an elf”, in which he focuses on the repeated motif of the Elf maiden in the Legendarium and how Tolkien shaped a literary concept used in classical literature by Chaucer and others to make it its own.

Nous sommes heureux de vous présenter la première sous-section en anglais de la section Essais, à l'occasion de la publication des versions originales des articles parus en juillet 2012 dans le numéro spécial de l'Arc et le Heaume, Tolkien 1892-2012.
Pour commencer, Jason Fisher, universitaire indépendant éditeur de Tolkien and the Study of his Sources (2011), présente un essai intitulé “For ther as wont to walken was an elf” dans lequel il se penche sur le motif répété de la jeune fille elfe dans le légendaire et comment Tolkien a fait sien un concept littéraire utilisé dans la littérature classique notamment par Chaucer.
