Tolkien a-t-il tout écrit ?

Euh attend, si tu dis que C. Tolkien a ECRIT des passage de Silm je crie au sacrilège, à la trahison, au blasphème !!! C. Tolkien a choisi les passages, les a mis en page, mais je doute très fortement qu'il ait écrit quoi que ce soit dans le Silmarillion !!!

Et pourtant...

Le chapitre 22, Of the Ruin of Doriath, a bel et bien été écrit par Christopher (aidé par Guy Kay), qui avait vraiment beaucoup de mal avec les textes de son père sur ce sujet :

This story was not lightly or easily conceived, but was the outcome of long experimentation among alternative conceptions. In this work Guy Kay took a major part, and the chapter that I finally wrote owes much to my discussions with him. [...] It seemed at that time that there were elements inherents in the story of the Ruin of Doriath as it stood that were radically incompatible with 'The Silmarillion' as projected, and that there was here an inescapable choice : either to abandon that conception, or else to alter the story. I think now that this was a mistaken view, and that the undoubted difficulties could have been, and should have been, surmounted without so far overstepping the bounds of the editorial function.

Par ailleurs, Christopher reconnaît à plusieurs reprises s'être gaulé dans les choix faits dans le Silmarillion, qui ne reflètent pas tous la dernière opinion de son père sur le sujet (comme l'ascendance de Gil-galad, sujet épineux à l'extrême).
